CINEQUALITY is a virtual public forum on representations of inequality in contemporary world cinema.  Based on a year-long series of guest events and workshops to be held with students and alumni of the MALCS (Master of Arts in Literary and Cultural Studies) programme at the University of Hong Kong’s Department of Comparative Literature, it is a free, independent, non-profit online resource offering critical commentary on a growing body of cinematic work from around the world that intervenes artistically and makes a statement about the grave problem of inequality that besets our world today.  The project will bring together students, critics, scholars, and filmmakers to form a shared communal space for informed dialogue on the intersection of culture and society free from the pressures of commercial media and accessible to the public without excessive academic jargon.
